April 5, 2023St. Joseph, Mo. | By: Jeremy Werner
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - April is a month for open burning in the city of St. Joseph and officials have a few reminders for residents. According to a press release, fires are allowed only between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
No fires can be within 15 feet of a building and must be in an upright container with a volume equal to no more than 55 gallons. A drum-size container constructed of wire mesh is acceptable.
Only one burn container per residence is allowed and they should be monitored from a close point.
Officials add that yard waste can only be burned and firefighting material including a garden hose or a container of water sufficient to contain any fire started must be at the site of the fire.
After April is over, the next open burning month in Saint Joseph is November.
