ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Albrecht-Kemper Museum welcomed two new exhibitions over the past weekend. Works are on view at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art through Sunday, June 4.
The first exhibition is Family, Faith, Figures: Harry J. Oshiver, about a Russian born artist who retired in the U.S. This exhibition is the first retrospective of his work.
Drawn from family collections, the exhibition includes student drawings, paintings of figures, and portraits that are wonderful examples of the academic training.
Oshiver painted portraits of friends and family throughout his life. Another subject that appeared throughout his painting career was Jewish rituals, figures, and stories.
The second exhibition is the 7th annual Undergraduate Juried Exhibition. This year’s 31 exhibiting artists selected for participation come from nine universities in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska.
