SIDNEY, Iowa - One Iowa city has selected a new leader for the local fire department. Dustin Sheldon was ratified as the new Fire Chief for the Sidney fire department at the city council's latest meeting.
Sheldon takes over for Chief Craig Marshall, who is stepping down after nearly 11 years as fire chief.
Sheldon is known throughout the Sidney community, not only for serving nearly three decades with the fire department, but graduating from the city's high school in 1989.
Sheldon has also been a Fremont County Supervisor since 2019. Sheldon adds that he's a legacy firefighter, as his grandpa served as Sidney's fire chief from 1950 to 1993.
