ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - It's National Fentanyl Awareness Day and one city in the KXCV/KRNW listening area is spreading awareness this evening with a music event.
The City of St. Joseph Health Department is partnering with the Buchanan County Opioid Task Force to bring Make Some Noise to Felix Street Square this evening at 5:30 p.m.
Local musicians will perform, highlighting the talent of young artists in our community. There will also be vendors, games and giveaways throughout the evening.
This event is designed to bring people together to celebrate youth and to spread awareness about the landscape of drugs, particularly fentanyl, in St. Joseph.
The purpose of this event is to reach as many people as possible, especially parents of middle school through college age youth.
Illegally made fentanyl is the primary driver of recent increases in U.S. overdose deaths and fentanyl-involved deaths of Americans under 50 are higher than any other cause of death in that age range.
