MALVERN, Iowa - East Mills Child Care Solutions has secured a $1 million grant from the Charles E. Lakin Foundation to fund the renovation of a former nursing home into a child care center.
The project, estimated to cost $5.3 million, will create "The Lakin Foundation Child Development Center of East Mills."
The center will feature 12 inclusive classrooms for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, accommodating 120-150 children.
Volunteers continue their fundraising efforts to meet their goal and aim to open the center in Fall 2024. The Charles E. Lakin Foundation supports programs that help people in need, aligning with the mission of providing safe and educational childcare.
Fundraising efforts are ongoing, and interested individuals can contact EMCCS for more information or to make donations.
