Iowa DNR encouraging residents to camp this weekend

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's Department of Natural Resources hosting a Summer Kick-Off event this upcoming weekend at various state parks and forests.

The Friday through Sunday event aims to provide family-friendly activities and programming for visitors. Participants can enjoy hikes, nature programs, fireside chats, kayaking clinics, and more.

Campers are encouraged to make reservations soon, as Iowa offers over 4,400 state park campsites, with many available for advance booking.

Additionally, there are more than 90 cabins across 20 state parks and forests for those who prefer cabin accommodations.

Visitors can check iowadnr.gov for updates, closures, and information about campsites, cabins, and events.
