DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources needs your help in their annual wild turkey production survey.
During next month and August, they are collecting data on wild turkey sightings to estimate nesting rates and nest success for this year.
Participating is simple. When you spot a wild turkey, note the date, county, identify if it's an adult male or female, males have beards, and count how many baby turkeys are present.
You can easily submit your observations online at iowadnr.gov.
These surveys play a vital role in managing wild turkey populations, as they can vary across the state each year. Your participation is greatly appreciated in this important conservation effort.
