Iowa state officials announce free summer meal program

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa education officials are gearing up for the free summer meal program. The Iowa Department of Education has announced over 500 locations where students under 18 can receive free meals.

This federally-funded program ensures that students, especially those who rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school year, continue to have access to healthy and nutritious meals.

Meal sites can be found in schools, churches, community centers, parks, libraries, housing complexes, and camps. Although targeted at areas with high needs, the program is open to all children.

Locations in the KXCV/KRNW listening area include Glenwood, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Clarinda, Hastings, Essex, Lamoni, Lenox, Creston, Mount Ayr.
