MDC offering emergency hay and water

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - As drought conditions worsen in Missouri, relief is available for your family farms. Missouri state parks and Missouri Department of Conservation areas are offering emergency hay and water.

You can collect water from boat ramps at 25 state parks and 36 conservation areas during operational hours. Just make sure to contact the MDC area managers beforehand.

Remember, the water is for livestock use only, not for resale. Bring your own pumping and hauling equipment. For haying needs, 17 state parks have designated areas totaling 700 acres.

Contact the park superintendent to view the area, and the first person to express interest will receive a license to cut the hay at no cost.

Guidelines and boundaries will be provided, and haying can begin on or after Sunday, June 25, with hay removal required before September 25th. For more information and details, visit mostateparks.com/drought.
