MFHC launches new contraceptive access project

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri Family Health Council has launched Free EC, a new contraceptive access project providing free emergency contraception to Missourians.

The initiative aims to offer EC kits to individuals who need them at over 40 locations throughout the state or through online requests on the MFHC website.

EC is a post-sex birth control option for preventing pregnancy after unprotected or under-protected sex. MFHC has partnered with nonprofit organizations, health centers, and community allies to distribute the kits without any hassle or questions.

The project seeks to remove geographic and financial barriers to birth control in light of increasing restrictions on sexual and reproductive healthcare. Despite the abortion ban, all methods of birth control, including E-C, remain legal and available in Missouri.
