ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - It was a busy weekend for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

In Clinton County at around 5 p.m. yesterday evening, 18-year-old Ethan Embrey of Cameron was riding his 2009 Honda Shadow motorcycle on 69 Highway, three miles south of Cameron.

As he approached a vehicle in front of him that had lost its load, Embrey swerved to avoid it. His motorcycle fell and he was forcefully ejected.

He was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

In a second crash, at 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, a serious collision occurred at the intersection of JC Penney Drive and Caldwell Road near Hamilton in Caldwell County.

It involved a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and a 2004 Dodge Dakota. The 16-year-old driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries, while the Dodge driver, 18-year-old Joshua Morrison, was seriously injured.

The Jeep was heading northbound on Caldwell Road when the Dodge, traveling westbound on JC Penney Drive, failed to yield and struck its left side.

And finally in a single-vehicle accident at 1:39 a.m. Saturday, all occupants were seriously injured.

22-year-old Zachary Novotny, from Rushville, was driving a 2014 Chevy Silverado on Southwest Sampson Road when the truck went down an embankment and ended up in a creek.

Novotny, along with 18-year-old Madelyn, from Agency, and a 16-year-old female juvenile from Rushmore, were taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.
