CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - The Livingston County Sheriff's Office was involved in a high-speed chase. According to a press release, Deputy Taylor West spotted a red truck zooming at 90 mph on U.S. Highway 36 around 2:34 p.m. Monday.

Deputy West activated emergency lights and sirens, but the suspect vehicle only accelerated, nearly colliding with a citizen's car. The Sheriff's Office says the pursuit weaved through various streets as the suspect dodged stop sticks.

The chase ended at the south end of the east Livingston County Courthouse Parking lot. The driver was identified as Sean Dabney of Kirksville, 42.

He was arrested for excessive speed, resisting arrest, and failing to stop. Dabney claimed he was late for his child support case at court and was only looking for a safe place to stop.

He also reportedly admitted to knowing the deputy was attempting to stop him and had no answers as to why every other motorist was yielding to emergency vehicles, but not him.
