JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Agriculture needs your thoughts after being granted $8 million through the USDA Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program to bolster the food supply chain connecting farmers and consumers.
The RFSI program aims to enhance resilience in the middle of the food supply chain, offering better markets to small farms and food businesses, and supporting the development of value-added products, fair prices, fair wages, and new job opportunities.
MDA will allocate the funds as competitive grants to invest in the aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storage, transportation, wholesale, and distribution of locally produced food.
MDA is seeking public input until Aug. 17th to understand the challenges and needs facing the food supply chain, including infrastructure needs and food access barriers. To provide input, visit agriculture.mo.gov.
