CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Authorities are investigating a tense situation that unfolded in Chillicothe. At 7:13 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a man with a firearm threatening another man and his child on Mohawk Road.

The suspect vehicle had left the scene and officers learned the suspected was disqualified from possessing a firearm and had a parole warrant. Nearly an hour later, the vehicle was located later on Washington Street.

When they attempted to make contact, the individuals refused to comply with police orders. The male suspect jumped into the driver's seat with a gun in his lap.

In the process, he struck an officer with the vehicle, and shots were fired by an officer. A pursuit ensued into Grundy County, where the suspect was ultimately arrested with the assistance of Grundy County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 28-year-old female was also arrested on several charges related to the incident. The Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation of the incident for transparency.

The officer involved is on administrative leave pending the investigation, following normal protocol.
