JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Despite a dry start to summer, Missouri's roadways still require mowing, and the Missouri Department of Transportation is urging caution.

MoDOT State Maintenance Director Natalie Roark emphasizes the importance of increased visibility for motorists and asks drivers to be alert and mindful of mowing crews.

Major and minor routes will be mowed multiple times until October, covering an area equivalent to 300,000 football fields.

To safely pass mowers on rural roads, drivers should watch for slow-moving trucks and tractors with flashing lights, slow down, avoid distractions, and follow passing guidelines.

Grass and weed obstructions can be reported to MoDOT's Customer Service Center. MoDOT adds that you should stay safe and vigilant on the roads.
