Recent announcement crowds race for MO Treasurer

election

ST. LOUIS - It's becoming a crowded race in the GOP primary for Missouri state Treasurer. State Sen. Andrew Koenig has joined the race along with fellow lawmaker, state Rep. Cody Smith, and current state Treasurer Vivek Malek.

In Koenig's announcement this week, he citied the need for conservatives on the state ticket. Malek was appointed treasurer by Gov. Mike Parson. Malek has shown impressive fundraising, with about $2 million cash on hand.

Meanwhile, Lucas Johnson is running as a Democrat in the race. The treasurer's office was vacated by Scott Fitzpatrick, who was elected state auditor last year.
