The Missouri State Highway Patrol says three people are dead after two different 4th of July wrecks. The Patrol says the first wreck happened at 9:32 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 36 in Caldwell County.

The crash occurred as a semi was traveling at the MO 13 interchange. At the same time, a GMC Yukon with two 70-year-olds from Nebraska City, was merging onto the highway.

The semi moved into the passing lane for the Yukon to merge, but the Yukon cut across both lanes and was struck. Both vehicles veered off into the median.

The driver of the Yukon, Ricky Nutzman, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger, Susan Nutzman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The second deadly wreck happened three miles north of Bethany at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday. The accident involved an ATV traveling northbound on Country Road West 211 Lane.

The vehicle veered off roadway, skidded, and struck a rock before returning to the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to hit an embankment and overturn.

The driver, 38-year-old Scott Hall of Bethany, did not survive and was pronounced deceased at Harrison County Community Hospital. The passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries.
