DES MOINES, Iowa - Several Iowa counties in the KXCV/KRNW listening are now eligible for emergency haying or grazing use of Conservation Reserve Program acres.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture authorized emergency use for Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, and Taylor counties.
Additionally, Mills and Montgomery counties are restricted under emergency haying criteria through the Livestock Forage Disaster Program.
Area counties impacted by this recent declaration can also be eligible if they have seen a 40% or greater loss in pasture and hay production.
Despite the recent rain across our listening area, the latest U.S. Drought Monitor says all of Iowa is seeing at least abnormally dry conditions.
Those who are interested in emergency haying or grazing, or wanting to learn more, are urged to reach out to their local USDA Service Center.
