DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service are offering grant money to rural fire departments in Iowa to support wildfire battle efforts.
The deadline for applications is Oct. 16, and the grant provides 50% reimbursement for wildland fire equipment, up to $4,500 per department. The funding covers wildfire suppression equipment, hoses, pumps, and more.
Special requests tied to wildfire suppression will also be considered. Fire departments responding to wildland fires or providing assistance will receive priority points in the application process.
