DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters that tomorrow is the start of the state's teal-only hunting season.
Hunters will only have 16 teal hunting days in the state's wetlands and shallow lakes. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ensures this season when teal populations are thriving, adding to regular duck hunting times.
While blue-winged teal populations dipped this year, wetland conditions in neighboring states favor strong numbers. Remember, proper identification is key, and shooting hours begin at sunrise.
The Iowa D-N-R encourages hunters to check the state's waterfowl migration and wetland conditions report before heading out. You can do that iowadnr.gov.
