ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is seeing an increase in motorcycle fatalities this year.
In 2020, Missouri lawmakers updated helmet laws in the state, allowing motorcyclists aged 26 and older to ride without a helmet. Sgt. Shane Hux believes that's the potential reason for the increase in the past few years.
The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration says Missouri is one of the deadliest states for motorcycle accidents, ranking third in the U.S.
