New pump installation underway at MO conservation area

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. - A new pump station is underway at the Fountain Grove Conservation Area in Livingston County.

Capital Paving and Construction has been awarded the contract for this project. The station will feature three electric pumps drawing water from the Grand River, replacing a single diesel pump.

This upgrade will boost water pumping capacity and flexibility based on weather and waterfowl requirements on the nearly 8,000-acre site.

Pumping will occur only when Grand River flow is adequate to avoid negative impacts on the river's ecology and agriculture uses.

This is Phase 2 of MDC’s Golden Anniversary Wetland Renovation Program at Fountain Grove. Renovations are anticipated to conclude by May 2024. For more information, visit mdc.mo.gov.
