JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Before several hunting seasons get underway, the Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding hunters to be aware of changes that were made to regulations for 2023-24.
In addition to the adding of 14 new counties to the chornic wasting disease Management zone, the number of firearm anterless permits have increased in select counties from two to four.
Along with other important changes, the MDC is hoping that with the increasing distribution of deer numbers and CWD hunters and landowners will be able to better manage deer populations.
MDC officials say that additional deer harvest helps minimize the spread of the disease both inside, and outside the management zone. To find the dates, as well as more information about the specific changes, visit mdc.mo.gov.
