MSHP: Kansas man dead in single-vehicle crash

RUSH TOWNSHIP, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 28-year-old Kansas man is dead after a single vehicle crash.

The Patrol says Ryan Roper of Atchison was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata on SW Highway 59 in Buchanan County, just two miles outside of Kansas.

Authorities said at 6:54 a.m. Sunday, Roper's vehicle crossed the centerline, began to skid and slide, and then struck a fixed object.

Roper, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene less than 10 minutes later by authorities.
