MU Extension Office offering mental health resources

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - September is National Suicide Prevention Month and it serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced in rural America.

That's why the University of Missouri Extension is taking action to support farmers and their families in these tough times.

With suicide being the 10th-leading cause of death in the U-S, rural residents face a higher risk, compounded by a lack of mental health professionals and resources.

MU Extension offers behavioral and mental health resources, workshops, and teletherapy counseling.

Additionally, the Agri-Stress Helpline, a free, confidential service, is available to Missouri producers and rural families, providing mental health support around the clock at 833-897-2474.

You can find other resources in the Mental Health Awareness Toolkit at muext.us/MHtoolkit.
