DES MOINES, Iowa - In an effort to protect livestock across Iowa, a new program has been launched. State Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has introduced the Livestock Protection Innovation Grant Program.
This program aims to financially support Iowa-based companies in the creation of safe and efficient vaccines for safeguarding livestock against foreign animal diseases.
With Iowa's livestock industry being worth $13 billion, the program is critical for protecting farm families and local communities.
The state's legislature, backed by Gov. Kim Reynolds, has allocated $250,000 for this vital vaccine development initiative. Collaboration with various stakeholders and officials is underway to ensure swift responses to potential threats.
