The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has reached an agreement with an Oklahoma company in connection with the fatal fall of an employee in St. Joseph.

Skinner Tank Company has agreed to pay $370,680 in penalties in the October 2019 accident in which an employee fell more than 50 feet to his death.

According to a news release, OSHA found that the company didn't require employees to use fall protection while working on the roof of a soybean storage tank in St. Joseph.

OSHA further claims that the company provided inaccurate safety information to it's employees by telling them that wearing fall protection actually presented a greater hazard than not wearing it.

OHSA has also mad a criminal referral to the Department of Justice in the case.
