DES MOINES, Iowa - As the temperature drops, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reminding residents to check their boats and trailers, and docks and lifts for aquatic invasive species before storing them for the winter.
Aquatic Invasive Species Program Coordinator Kim Bogenschutz says one of the main things to look out for are zebra mussels.
If you're not sure, you can take pictures to send to the DNR for them to identify the species. To learn more, visit iowadnr.gov/ais.
