KINGSTON, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 46-year-old Kansas woman is dead after a fiery crash involving a police pursuit in Caldwell County.

The Patrol says Ray County authorities were pursuing Sheila Roesch of Overland Park who was driving a 2015 Mazda 3 on Missouri Highway 13, just north of Kingston.

Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, at Route P, the Mazda drove through a construction barrier and struck a light trailer before traveling down an embankment, becoming engulfed in flame.

Roesch was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities haven't said what initiated the high speed chase. The incident remains under investigation.
