JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation is inviting the public to contribute tree seeds to support conservation efforts in Livingston County.

The collected seeds will be used to grow seedlings at MDC’s George O. White Tree Nursery in Licking. The nursery aims to periodically gather seeds for conservation plantings on both public and private lands.

MDC is particularly interested in species that produce seeds late in the summer and during the fall.

Individuals can bring their seeds to the Chillicothe Office this Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday, October 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It's important to note that MDC will stop accepting seeds once the nursery's quota for a particular tree species has been met.

To inquiry about the need for seeds, specific tree species or seed quality, contact MDC Forester Samantha Anderson at 660-646-6122.
