JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation says the state's bear-hunting season yielded a harvest of 12 black bears.
The season was held from October 16-25. Out of over 5,370 applicants in May, 342 hunters secured permits through a random drawing.
The hunting was limited to three designated Bear Management Zones Missouri. All kills were accomplished using firearms methods, with three boars and nine sows among the total.
In a press release, MDC Bear Biologist Nate Bowersock expressed satisfaction with the season, noting success in four new counties. For more details, visit mdc.mo.gov.
