St. Joseph officials have reminders about burning next month

ST JOSEPH, Mo. - St. Joseph residents are being reminded of the upcoming open burning session next month., allowing the disposal of dry yard waste within the city limits.

The City of St. Joseph Health Department has outlined key regulations to ensure safe and controlled burning.

Fires are permitted between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., confined to a 55-gallon container, and must be 15 feet away from buildings. Each residence is limited to one burn container, monitored closely, and restricted to yard waste only.

The Fire Department will respond non-emergency unless structures are at risk. Violations may lead to misdemeanor charges.

Residents are encouraged to explore alternative waste disposal methods to promote community health and safety.
