ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A murder charge has been levied against a St. Joseph teenager in the tragic shooting death of another St. Joseph teenager.
On June 15th, police discovered 15-year-old Carter Smith's lifeless body near the REC Center at 28th and Commercial Streets.
Using video footage and data extracted from Smith's phone, investigators honed in on 17-year-old Kaden Wilfong as a suspect.
A subsequent search of Wilfong's residence unearthed multiple firearms, blood-stained clothing, and a bag soaked in blood.
A witness positively identified Wilfong's involvement in the shooting, leading to the second-degree murder charge. A witness later came forward and identified Wilfong as one of the people involved in the shooting.
Wilfong is being held without bond.
