Authorities say it began with an officer made contact with a male subject outside of a home in the 300 block of Broad Avenue around 3:32 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the officer was investigating the subject for driving without a valid driver’s license.

The two became entangled in a physical struggle, the suspect escaped, entered his vehicle and allegedly drove toward the officer in a reckless manner.
