JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Federal Highway Administration has designated this week National Crash Responder Safety Week, shedding light on the dangers faced by emergency responders daily.
In Missouri alone, more than 54,000 traffic crashes required emergency response in 2022. The state's Move Over law mandates drivers to change lanes or slow down when approaching stationary emergency vehicles with flashing lights.
In a press release, the Missouri Department of Transportation urges drivers to show respect, avoid distractions, and adhere to the Move Over law.
The week aims to raise awareness, promote crash prevention education, and emphasize life-saving training for all traffic incident responders.
