JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri's deer hunters had a successful opening weekend during the November firearms season.

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation revealed over 90,000 deer were shot on November 11 and 12.

Of these, a little over 53,000 were antlered bucks, over 7,100 were button bucks, and around 30,000 were does. Top harvest counties included Franklin, Texas, and Howell.

The overall harvest was comparable to the previous five-year average, with last year's opening weekend seeing over 93,00 deer harvested.

The November portion of firearms deer season continues until November 21, followed by additional hunting opportunities throughout the month. For detailed harvest totals, visit mdc.mo.gov.
