MDC reminds fishers about opportunities in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Fishers in the St. Joseph area now have double the opportunity to enjoy winter trout fishing. The Missouri Department of Conservation recently stocked rainbow trout in Krug Park Lagoon and Everyday Pond.
Fishers can catch-and-release until February 1, after which fishers with the appropriate permits can keep up to four trout per day.
While non-native to Missouri, rainbow trout thrive in the cool temperatures and high dissolved oxygen levels of lakes during winter. The stocking provides local fishers with a convenient winter fishing opportunity.
Popular methods for trout fishing include fly-rods, spinning rods, and spin casting rods and reels with light lines. Effective lures comprise flies, spinners, and jigs.
