JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding residents who might be camping to be careful with campfires and other sources of fire that could cause a wildfire.
The MDC says it's because of on going drought conditions across the state.
MDC News Coordinator Joe Jerek says other ways to prevent wildfires are to be careful with vehicles over dry grass or leaves.
Think twice before driving into a grassy field, never park over tall grass that can touch the underside of a vehicle and when driving off road always carry an approved fire extinguisher.
