THURMAN, Iowa - Authorities have identified a 46-year-old Nebraska man who died in a rural Iowa County wreck earlier this week.

The Freemont County Sheriff's Office says David Hanswer of Murray was driving a 2020 Ford transit van on 160th Street, east of Thurman. Shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, Hanser failed to negotiate a curve.

The van left the road, entered a ravine and struck several tees. Responding crews had to use the jaws of life to remove Hanswer, who was taken to an Omaha hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Three other men in the vehicle, ages 19, 28 and 20, were taken to local hospitals with unknown injuries. The Sheriff's Office says the crash is still under investigation and that Saturday's snow most likely played a factor in the accident.
