DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources believes they have the perfect way to kick off the New Year.
The DNR is encouraging you to take a First Day Hike in an Iowa state park or forest on January 1.
Officials say you can embrace the tranquility of winter nature, enjoy breathtaking views, and explore cultural treasures offered by Iowa’s state parks.
According to a press release, officials with DNR encourages everyone to join park officials for free, guided hikes in nearly 20 state parks.
Ranging from one to two miles or longer, the hikes offer wildlife viewing and hot beverages at some locations. For more information, visit iowadnr.gov/firstdayhikes.
