DES MOINES, Iowa - In a heartwarming gesture, Iowa hunters have shown tremendous generosity by donating over 4,500 deer hides to Elks Lodges, marking an uplifting increase of nearly 600 hides from the previous season.
These hides serve a noble purpose, being utilized by the Veterans Leather Program to craft professionally-made leather gloves for veterans in wheelchairs.
Additionally, the leather contributes to therapy programs aiding recovering veterans.
The Veterans Leather Program depends on hunters' charitable contributions, urging those willing to donate to reach out to local Elks Lodges for drop-off locations or visit elks.org/lodges.
The therapeutic kits and gloves are distributed to veterans at no cost. For more information, contact Lisa Widick at 208-360-6294.
