King City man dies in crash

Ambulance Emergency

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Gentry County.

The Patrol says 38-year-old Nicholas Merrigan of Clarksdale was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger on 169 Highway, two miles south of Stanberry. At 2:28 a.m. Wednesday, Merrigan failed to negotiate a curve, running the Dodge off the road. The Dodge struck a utility pole, and became airborne multiple times, going over 460th Road, before overturning across 372nd Street.

Merrigan suffered serious injuries while a passenger, 44-year-old Michael Perman of King City, died. Perman wasn't wearing a seatbelt, but Merrigan was. No other details have been released.
