JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri State Treasurer Vivek Malek is pushing for legislative approval of a $400 million expansion of the successful MOBUCK$ program.
The low-interest loan initiative, designed to spur economic growth and counter inflation, has been highly sought after, leading to a temporary closure of the MOBUCK$ application portal.
With total deposits nearing the $800 million cap, Treasurer Malek endorses legislation, sponsored by Sen. Sandy Crawford and Rep. Terry Thompson, to raise the cap to $1.2 billion.
Malek, who personally promoted MOBUCK$ in 44 Missouri counties, including Nodaway County, aims for bipartisan support to strengthen the program, offering relief to small businesses, farmers, and local governments.
