The Spoofhounds face Bishop DuBourg in the Class 1 semifinals on Friday.
Maryville High School boys soccer received a community send-off Thursday morning as the team makes the trek to Fenton for the MSHSAA Class 1 State Semifinals.
The Spoofhounds are in the final four for the second time in program history, but the experience won't be new to the upperclassmen.
"This senior group," head coach Matt Stoecklein said, "They're ready. They're excited about this and they're ready to play."
Maryville's first appearance in the state semifinals came in 2021. The 'Hounds lost 1-0 to eventual state champ Lutheran St. Charles, but bounced back quickly to hammer Fair Grove the following day 5-0 to claim third place.
The Spoofhounds have already matched a program-high with 16 wins this season and clinched their fourth straight district title along the way. Stoecklein wants his team to soak in the opportunity to play on the biggest stage, while also staying focused on the business facing them on the pitch.
"We've even mentioned that in a couple of our other games that have been pretty close and pretty tight. 'Hey, enjoy it. Have fun. Work hard and whatever happens happens."'
Maryville faces Bishop DuBourg at 10am Friday in the Class 1 semifinals.
