OMAHA, Neb. - An economic index tracking nine states, including Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas, has some good news.
The Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions Index shows a positive rebound in December. The index, reflecting growth in the area, rose to 50.3 from November's 42.2.
However, supply managers, though more optimistic than in November, still express concerns about the 2024 economy, with 46% expecting a recession in the first half of the year.
Employment readings improved to 50 from 42.5, but comments indicate worries about political influences and the need for more workers. Wholesale prices eased, and confidence for the next six months remained weak.
