GLENWOOD, Iowa - A known name is making a return to Glenwood City Hall. The Glenwood City Council unanimously voted for Angie Winquist to become the city's new mayor at a special meeting.

Winquist steps into the position after the resignation of Ron Kohn, who left for personal health reasons and passed away this past weekend.

Having served as the city administrator, Winquist expressed her love for Glenwood and her eagerness to contribute.

She says her immediate focus will be reconnecting with city affairs, meeting department heads, staff, and council members. Winquist commended Kohn's six-year tenure as mayor, expressing a desire to continue his legacy.

She was selected from a pool of five applicants after council interviews last Wednesday. Her first meeting will be next Tuesday, coinciding with the city's budget-setting for the upcoming fiscal year.
