Homeless man found guilty of child sex crimes

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A Buchanan County jury has found a homeless St. Joseph man guilty of sexually assaulting a child.

53-year-old Jeffrey Gray was found guilty of two counts of first-degree sodomy and for sexual abuse of a child younger than 12. Prosecutors in the case say the abuse happened between December 1, 2022 and March 21, 2023.

The jury heard testimony from the victim, members of the victim's family, as well as the St. Joseph School District, St. Joseph Police Department, Missouri Children’s Division, Children’s Mercy Hospital, and others.

Gray is scheduled to be sentenced on March 4th. He faces mandatory life sentences on each count.
