FARRAGUT, Iowa - The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says the Iowa Fire Marshall is investigating a deadly structure fire in Farragut.

The Office received a report of an occupied structure fire around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday at a detached garage in the 100 block of Clay Street in Farragut.

Witnesses told authorities that an individual had entered the structure and had not been seen exiting.

The Sheriff's Office says that after the fire was extinguished, responders conducted a search and located human remains in the structure.

Authorities say the identity is being withheld pending notification. Fire departments from Farragut, Shenandoah, Essex, Riverton, Sidney, Hamburg, Randolph, Tabor, and Thurman all responded to the call.
