DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa residents demonstrated a robust engagement in outdoor activities, with notable license purchases this past year.
In 2023, fishing licenses saw significant numbers, including nearly 200,000 annual licenses, over 8,700 lifetime fishing licenses, and over 44,000 trout fees.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says hunting licenses were also prevalent, with over 39,600 annual licenses and over 55,000 hunting and habitat annual combination licenses.
The large game category, particularly deer and turkey, had substantial participation, totaling licenses across various seasons.
Nonresidents contributed to the statistics with over 27,00 annual fishing licenses and nearly 5,500 hunting licenses.
