Iowa man arrested on suspected domestic assault

VILLISCA, Iowa - A 37-year-old Villisca man is in custody following a welfare check.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says Jeffrey Sparks III was arrested around 9 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of North 3rd Avenue in Villisca.

The arrest came after deputies responded to the area for a welfare check. Sparks is accused of first offense domestic assault. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and is being held without bond.
